products description :
Intended Uses: The kit is a sandwich enzyme immunoassay for the in vitro quantitative measurement of EFNA4 in human serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates or other biological fluids. Principle of the Assay: The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to EFNA4. Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with a biotin-conjugated antibody preparation specific to EFNA4. Next, Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. After TMB substrate solution is added, only those wells that contain EFNA4, biotin-conjugated antibody and enzyme-conjugated Avidin will exhibit a change in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450nm +/- 10nm. The concentration of EFNA4 in the samples is then determined by comparing the O.D. of the samples to the standard curve.

ncbi summary :
Epoxide hydrolase is a critical biotransformation enzyme that converts epoxides from the degradation of aromatic compounds to trans-dihydrodiols which can be conjugated and excreted from the body. Epoxide hydrolase functions in both the activation and detoxification of epoxides. Mutations in this gene cause preeclampsia, epoxide hydrolase deficiency or increased epoxide hydrolase activity. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene.[provided by RefSeq, Dec 2008]
uniprot summary :
Biotransformation enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of arene and aliphatic epoxides to less reactive and more water soluble dihydrodiols by the trans addition of water (). May play a role in the metabolism of endogenous lipids such as epoxide-containing fatty acids (PubMed:22798687).
