Intended Uses: The kit is a sandwich enzyme immunoassay for the in vitro quantitative measurement of SEMA3E in mouse serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates or other biological fluids. Principle of the Assay: The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to SEMA3E. Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with a biotin-conjugated antibody preparation specific to SEMA3E. Next, Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. After TMB substrate solution is added, only those wells that contain SEMA3E, biotin-conjugated antibody and enzyme-conjugated Avidin will exhibit a change in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450nm +/- 10nm. The concentration of SEMA3E in the samples is then determined by comparing the O.D. of the samples to the standard curve.

This gene encodes a member of the semaphorin III family of secreted signaling proteins that are involved in axon guidance during neuronal development. The encoded protein contains an N-terminal Sema domain, an immunoglobulin loop and a C-terminal basic domain. This gene is expressed by the endothelial cells where it was found to act in an autocrine fashion to induce apoptosis, inhibit cell proliferation and survival, and function as an anti-tumorigenic agent.
