app notes :
Peptide ELISA: Antibody detection limit dilution 1: 16000. Western Blot: Preliminary experiments gave bands at approx 100kDa and140kDa in Human Brain (Cerebellum) lysates after 1ug/ml antibody staining. Please note that currently we cannot find an explanation in the literature for the bands we observe given the calculated size of 78.9kDa according to NP_055099.1 and 77.2kDa according to NP_001014841.1. Both detected bands were successfully blocked by incubation with the immunizing peptide (and BLAST results with the immunizing peptide sequence did not identify any other proteins to explain the additional bands).
other info1 :
Immunogen: Peptide with sequence C-HYLLQVGSEKQKEP, from the internal region of the protein sequence according to NP_055099.1; NP_001014841.1. Epitope: Internal region
other info2 :
Note: This antibody is expected to recognize both reported isoforms (NP_055099.1; NP_001014841.1). Reported variants represent identical protein (NP_055099.1; NP_001014839.1).

ncbi summary :
This gene encodes a leucine-rich cytoplasmic protein, which is highly similar to a mouse protein that negatively regulates Ca/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II phosphorylation and may be essential for spatial learning processes. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants of this gene have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
uniprot summary :
NCDN: Probably involved in signal transduction, in the nervous system, via increasing cell surface localization of GRM5 and positively regulating its signaling. Required for the spatial learning process. Acts as a negative regulator of Ca(2+)-calmodulin-dependent protein kinase 2 (CaMK2) phosphorylation. May play a role in modulating melanin- concentrating hormone-mediated functions via its interaction with MCHR1 that interferes with G protein-coupled signal transduction. May be involved in bone metabolism. May also be involved in neurite outgrowth. Belongs to the neurochondrin family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. Protein type: Inhibitor. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1p34.3. Cellular Component: axon; cell soma; cytosol; dendrite; membrane; nucleus. Molecular Function: protein binding. Biological Process: bone resorption; neurite development; regulation of neuronal synaptic plasticity
