Immunohistochemistry: In paraffin embedded Human Liver shows membranous staining in sinusoid lining cells surrounding hepatocytes. Recommended concentration, 3-5ug/ml. Western Blot: Preliminary experiments gave an approx 55kDa band in Human Adipose and Lung lysates after 0.01ug/ml antibody staining. Please note that currently we cannot find an explanation in the literature for the band we observe given the calculated size of 84.6kDa according to NP_003725.1. The 55kDa band was successfully blocked by incubation with the immunizing peptide. Peptide ELISA: antibody detection limit dilution 1:64000.

Epitope: Internal Region (Near the C Terminus). Immunogen: Peptide with sequence C-DEDPSFYSADSIY, from the internal region (near the C Terminus) of the protein sequence according to NP_003725.1.

This gene encodes a member of the semicarbazide-sensitive amine oxidase family. Copper amine oxidases catalyze the oxidative conversion of amines to aldehydes in the presence of copper and quinone cofactor. The encoded protein is localized to the cell surface, has adhesive properties as well as monoamine oxidase activity, and may be involved in leukocyte trafficking. Alterations in levels of the encoded protein may be associated with many diseases, including diabetes mellitus. A pseudogene of this gene has been described and is located approximately 9-kb downstream on the same chromosome. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
