Use: PBMC: Add 10ul of MAB/10 6 PBMC in 100ul PBS. Mix gently and incubate for 15 minutes at 2 degree C to 8 degree C. Wash twice with PBS and analyze or fix with 0.5% v/v of paraformaldehyde in PBS and analyze. WHOLE BLOOD: Add 10ul of MAB/100ul of whole blood. Mix gently and incubate for 15 minutes at room temperature 20°C. Lyse the whole blood. Wash once with PBS and analyze or fix with 0.5% v/v of paraformaldehyde in PBS and analyze. See instrument manufacturer's instructions for Lysed Whole Blood and Immunofluorescence analysis with a flow cytometer or microscope. Stability: Reagents are stable for the period shown on the vial label when stored properly.

products description :
CD56, M.W. 150,000, is expressed on approximately 10-25% of human peripheral blood lymphocytes. CD56 (NKH-1) is expressed on human peripheral blood natural killer cells, representing a pan NK-cell antigen. Expressed on non-MHC-restricted cytotoxic T cells.

ncbi summary :
This gene encodes a cell adhesion protein which is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. The encoded protein is involved in cell-to-cell interactions as well as cell-matrix interactions during development and differentiation. The encoded protein has been shown to be involved in development of the nervous system, and for cells involved in the expansion of T cells and dendritic cells which play an important role in immune surveillance. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2011]
uniprot summary :
Function: This protein is a cell adhesion molecule involved in neuron-neuron adhesion, neurite fasciculation, outgrowth of neurites, etc. Subcellular location: Isoform 1: Cell membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein. Isoform 2: Cell membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein. Isoform 3: Cell membrane; Lipid-anchor GPI-anchor. Isoform 4: Cell membrane; Lipid-anchor GPI-anchor . Potential. Isoform 5: Secreted. Isoform 6: Secreted . Potential. Sequence similarities: Contains 2 fibronectin type-III domains.Contains 5 Ig-like C2-type (immunoglobulin-like) domains. Sequence caution: The sequence BAD92680.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Erroneous initiation. Translation N-terminally shortened.
