products description :
Prolactin is a neuroendocrine hormone synthesized primarily by the pituitary gland but also a variety of other cell types including the placenta, brain and uterus. Its primary function is to promote and maintain lactation but has also been shown to have a role in breast cancer development, regulation of reproductive function and immunoregulation. Our recombinant prolactin comprises a 199 amino acid fragment (29-227) corresponding to the mature prolactin protein and is expressed in E. coli with an amino-terminal hexahistidine tag. This product is for research use only and is not intended for diagnostic or therapeutic use.

uniprot summary :
Function: Prolactin acts primarily on the mammary gland by promoting lactation. Subcellular location: Secreted. Sequence similarities: Belongs to the somatotropin/prolactin family. Sequence caution: The sequence CAA38264.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Frameshift at position 8.
