products description :
Fatty acid binding proteins are a family of small, highly conserved, cytoplasmic proteins (14-15kDa) that bind long chain fatty acids, their CoA derivatives, billiruben, organic anions and other small hydrophobic molecules. They are abundantly present in various cell types and due to their small size rapidly leak from damaged cells leading to a rise in serum levels. Recombinant IL-FABP comprises a 128 amino acid fragment (1-128) corresponding to the human ileal FABP protein and is expressed in E Coli with an amino-terminal hexahistidine tag. This product is not intended for therapeutic use.

ncbi summary :
The gene encodes a small, highly conserved cytoplasmic protein that bind long-chain fatty acids and other hydrophobic ligands. The encoded protein is important in the establishment of the radial glial fiber in the developing brain. Alternative splicing and promoter usage results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. Pseudogenes of this gene are found on multiple chromosomes. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2016]
uniprot summary :
FABP7: B-FABP could be involved in the transport of a so far unknown hydrophobic ligand with potential morphogenic activity during CNS development. It is required for the establishment of the radial glial fiber system in developing brain, a system that is necessary for the migration of immature neurons to establish cortical layers. Belongs to the calycin superfamily. Fatty-acid binding protein (FABP) family. Protein type: Lipid-binding; Cell cycle regulation; Cell development/differentiation. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 6q22-q23. Cellular Component: cytoplasm; cytosol; nucleoplasm. Biological Process: negative regulation of cell proliferation; nervous system development; triacylglycerol catabolic process
