storage stability :
Store at 2-8 degree C. Do not freeze. The user must validate any other storage conditions. When properly stored, the reagent is stable to the date indicated on the label. Do not use the reagent beyond the expiration date. There are no definitive signs to indicate instability of this product; therefore, positive and negative controls should be tested simultaneously with unknown specimens. If unexpected results are observed which cannot be explained by variations in laboratory procedures and a problem with the reagent is suspected, contact Technical Support.
tested application :
Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Paraffin
app notes :
Immunohistochemistry Procedure . Specimen Preparation: Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissues are suitable for use with this primary antibody. Deparaffinization: Deparaffinize slides using xylene or xylene alternative and graded alcohols. Antibody Dilution: If using the concentrate format of this product, dilute the antibody 1:200. The dilutions are estimates; actual results may differ because of variability in methods and protocols. Antigen Retrieval: Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires digesting tissue sections with Pepsin for 10 min at 37 degree C. Primary Antibody Incubation: Incubate for 10 minutes at RT. Slide Washing: Slides must be washed in between steps. Rinse slides with PBS/0.05% Tween. Visualization: Detect the antibody as instructed by the instructions provided with the visualization system. Immunohistochemistry Dilution: 1:200. IHC Positive Control: Skin, Squamous Cell Carcinoma
other info2 :
Immunogen: Synthetic peptide derived from C-terminus of human cytokeratin 14. Control Tissue: Skin, Squamous Cell Carcinoma. Cellular Localization: Cytoplasm. Entrez Gene Code: 3861. Pathway: Stem Cell
products description :
Cytokeratin 14 belongs to the type A (acidic) subfamily of low molecular weight keratins and exists in combination with cytokeratin 5.

ncbi summary :
This gene encodes a member of the keratin family, the most diverse group of intermediate filaments. This gene product, a type I keratin, is usually found as a heterotetramer with two keratin 5 molecules, a type II keratin. Together they form the cytoskeleton of epithelial cells. Mutations in the genes for these keratins are associated with epidermolysis bullosa simplex. At least one pseudogene has been identified at 17p12-p11. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
uniprot summary :
K14: a type I cytoskeletal keratin. The keratins are intermediate filament proteins responsible for the structural integrity of epithelial cells and are subdivided into cytokeratins and hair keratins. There are two types of cytoskeletal and microfibrillar keratin: type I (acidic; 40-55 kDa) [K9 to K20] and type II (neutral to basic; 56-70 kDa) [K1 to K8]. Both a basic and an acidic keratin are required for filament assembly. Generally associates with K5. Protein type: Cytoskeletal. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 17q21.2. Cellular Component: keratin filament; cytoplasm; intermediate filament; cytosol; nucleus. Molecular Function: protein binding; structural constituent of cytoskeleton. Biological Process: epidermis development; hemidesmosome assembly; epithelial cell differentiation; response to zinc ion; intermediate filament bundle assembly; response to ionizing radiation; aging; hair cycle. Disease: Epidermolysis Bullosa Simplex, Localized; Epidermolysis Bullosa Simplex, Generalized; Dermatopathia Pigmentosa Reticularis; Epidermolysis Bullosa Simplex, Autosomal Recessive 1; Naegeli Syndrome; Epidermolysis Bullosa Simplex, Dowling-meara Type
