Store at 2-8 degree C. Do not freeze. The user must validate any other storage conditions. When properly stored, the reagent is stable to the date indicated on the label. Do not use the reagent beyond the expiration date. There are no definitive signs to indicate instability of this product; therefore, positive and negative controls should be tested simultaneously with unknown specimens. If unexpected results are observed which cannot be explained by variations in laboratory procedures and a problem with the reagent is suspected, contact Technical Support.

app notes :
Immunohistochemistry Procedure . Specimen Preparation: Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissues are suitable for use with thisprimary antibody.Deparaffinization: Deparaffinize slides using xylene or xylene alternative and graded alcohols.Antibody Dilution: If using the concentrate format of this product, dilute the antibody 1:100. Thedilutions are estimates; actual results may differ because of variability in methods and protocols.Antigen Retrieval: Boil tissue sections in 10mM Citrate buffer, pH 6.0 for 10 min followed bycooling at room temperature for 20 min.Primary Antibody Incubation: Incubate for 10 minutes at room temperature.Slide Washing: Slides must be washed in between steps. Rinse slides with PBS/0.05% Tween.Visualization: Detect the antibody as instructed by the instructions provided with the visualizationsystem. Immunohistochemistry Dilution: Ready To Use. IHC Positive Control: Breast Carcinoma

Immunogen: Recombinant protein encoding aa 50-240 of human Stat3. Control Tissue: Breast Carcinoma. Cellular Localization: Cytoplasm, Nucleus. Entrez Gene Code: 6774. Pathway: Signal Transduction
products description :
The Stat3 protein is a transcription factor expressed in most cell types and is activated by multiplecytokines and growth factors including: IFN-a, IL-10, IL-6, IL-11, IL-12, IL-2, EGF etc. Stat3 binds toDNA as either a homodimer or as a heterodimer with Stat1. Stat3 interacts with the APRE (acutephase response element) and SIE (c-sis inducible element).

ncbi summary :
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the STAT protein family. In response to cytokines and growth factors, STAT family members are phosphorylated by the receptor associated kinases, and then form homo- or heterodimers that translocate to the cell nucleus where they act as transcription activators. This protein is activated through phosphorylation in response to various cytokines and growth factors including IFNs, EGF, IL5, IL6, HGF, LIF and BMP2. This protein mediates the expression of a variety of genes in response to cell stimuli, and thus plays a key role in many cellular processes such as cell growth and apoptosis. The small GTPase Rac1 has been shown to bind and regulate the activity of this protein. PIAS3 protein is a specific inhibitor of this protein. Three alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
