products description :
Intended Uses: This immunoassay kit allows for the in vitro quantitative determination of target antigen concentrations in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates or other biological fluids. Principle of the Assay: The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to target antigen. Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with a biotin-conjugated antibody preparation specific for target antigen and then avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. Then a TMB substrate solution is added to each well. Only those wells that contain target antigen, biotin-conjugated antibody and enzyme-conjugated Avidin will exhibit a change in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of a sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm +/- 2 nm. The concentration of target antigen in the samples is then determined by comparing the O.D. of the samples to the standard curve.

uniprot summary :
REN: Renin is a highly specific endopeptidase, whose only known function is to generate angiotensin I from angiotensinogen in the plasma, initiating a cascade of reactions that produce an elevation of blood pressure and increased sodium retention by the kidney. Interacts with ATP6AP2. Interaction with ATP6AP2 results in a 5-fold increased efficiency in angiotensinogen processing. Belongs to the peptidase A1 family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. Protein type: Secreted; Protease; EC 3.4.23.15; Secreted, signal peptide. Cellular Component: cytoplasm; extracellular space; intracellular; lysosome; membrane. Molecular Function: aspartic-type endopeptidase activity; endopeptidase activity; insulin-like growth factor receptor binding; peptidase activity; receptor binding. Biological Process: angiotensin maturation; beta-amyloid metabolic process; cell maturation; drinking behavior; establishment of blood-nerve barrier; hormone-mediated signaling; kidney development; male gonad development; mesonephros development; protein catabolic process; proteolysis; regulation of blood pressure; regulation of MAPKKK cascade; renin-angiotensin regulation of aldosterone production; renin-angiotensin regulation of blood volume; response to cAMP; response to drug; response to lipopolysaccharide; response to organic substance
