Samples: Serum, Plasma, Other biological fluids. Assay Type: Sandwich
other info2 :
Sample Volume: 1-200 uL. Precision: Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay). Three samples of known concentration were tested twenty times on one plate to assess intra-assay precision. Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays). Three samples of known concentration were tested in forty separate assays to assess inter-assay precision. CV (%) = SD/meanX100. Intra-Assay: CV. Inter-Assay: CV. Detection Wavelength: 450 nm
products description :
Principle of the Assay: This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate FABP2 in samples. An antibody specific for FABP2 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyFABP2 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for FABP2 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of FABP2 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

ncbi summary :
The protein encoded by this gene is an intracellular fatty acid-binding protein that participates in the uptake, intracellular metabolism, and transport of long-chain fatty acids. The encoded protein is also involved in the modulation of cell growth and proliferation. This protein binds saturated long-chain fatty acids with high affinity, and may act as a lipid sensor to maintain energy homeostasis. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2017]
uniprot summary :
FABP2: FABP are thought to play a role in the intracellular transport of long-chain fatty acids and their acyl-CoA esters. FABP2 is probably involved in triglyceride-rich lipoprotein synthesis. Binds saturated long-chain fatty acids with a high affinity, but binds with a lower affinity to unsaturated long- chain fatty acids. FABP2 may also help maintain energy homeostasis by functioning as a lipid sensor. Belongs to the calycin superfamily. Fatty-acid binding protein (FABP) family. Protein type: Lipid-binding; Transporter. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 4q26. Cellular Component: cytosol. Molecular Function: fatty acid binding; protein binding; transporter activity. Biological Process: digestion; transport; triglyceride catabolic process
