Mouse Defensin Alpha 5, Paneth Cell Specific (DEFa5) ELISA Kit
products short name :
[Defensin Alpha 5, Paneth Cell Specific (DEFa5)]
products name syn :
[DEF-A5; DEF5; HD-5]
other names :
[defensin, alpha 5, Paneth cell-specific; Defensin-5; defensin-5; defensin alpha 5; Defensin, alpha 5; HD5(20-94)]
products gene name :
[DEFa5]
other gene names :
[DEFA5; DEFA5; DEF5; HD-5; DEF5]
specificity :
This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of DEFa5. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between DEFa5 and analogues was observed.
storage stability :
The stability of kit is determined by the loss rate of activity. The loss rate of this kit is less than 5% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition. To minimize extra influence on the performance, operation procedures and lab conditions, especially room temperature, air humidity, incubator temperature should be strictly controlled. It is also strongly suggested that the whole assay is performed by the same operator from the beginning to the end.

products description :
Intended Uses: The kit is a sandwich enzyme immunoassay for in vitro quantitative measurement of DEFa5 in human serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. Principle of the Assay: The microplate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to DEFa5. Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microplate wells with a biotin-conjugated antibody specific to DEFa5. Next, Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. After TMB substrate solution is added, only those wells that contain DEFa5, biotin-conjugated antibody and enzyme-conjugated Avidin will exhibit a change in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450nm +/- 10nm. The concentration of DEFa5 in the samples is then determined by comparing the O.D. of the samples to the standard curve.

ncbi summary :
Defensins are a family of antimicrobial and cytotoxic peptides thought to be involved in host defense. They are abundant in the granules of neutrophils and also found in the epithelia of mucosal surfaces such as those of the intestine, respiratory tract, urinary tract, and vagina. Members of the defensin family are highly similar in protein sequence and distinguished by a conserved cysteine motif. Several of the alpha defensin genes appear to be clustered on chromosome 8. The protein encoded by this gene, defensin, alpha 5, is highly expressed in the secretory granules of Paneth cells of the ileum. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2014]
uniprot summary :
DEFA5: Has antimicrobial activity against Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria. Defensins are thought to kill microbes by permeabilizing their plasma membrane. All DEFA5 peptides exert antimicrobial activities, but their potency is affected by peptide processing. Belongs to the alpha-defensin family. Protein type: Secreted; Secreted, signal peptide. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 8p23.1. Cellular Component: extracellular region; extracellular space; Golgi lumen; transport vesicle. Molecular Function: protein homodimerization activity. Biological Process: antimicrobial humoral response; defense response to fungus; defense response to Gram-negative bacterium; defense response to Gram-positive bacterium; innate immune response; killing of cells of other organism
