products description :
Principle of the assay: This experiment use double-sandwich elisa technique and the ELISA Kit provided is typical. The pre-coated antibody is human VEGF-B monoclonal antibody and thedetecting antibody is polyclonal antibody with biotin labeled. Samples and biotin labeling antibody are added into ELISA plate wells and washed out with PBS or TBS. Then Avidin-peroxidase conjugates are added to ELISA wells in order; Use TMB substrate for coloring after reactant thoroughly washed out by PBS or TBS. TMB turns into blue in peroxidase catalytic and finally turns into yellow under the action of acid. The color depth and the testing factors in samples are positively correlated.

ncbi summary :
This gene encodes a member of the PDGF (platelet-derived growth factor)/VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor) family. The VEGF family members regulate the formation of blood vessels and are involved in endothelial cell physiology. This member is a ligand for VEGFR-1 (vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 1) and NRP-1 (neuropilin-1). Studies in mice showed that this gene was co-expressed with nuclear-encoded mitochondrial genes and the encoded protein specifically controlled endothelial uptake of fatty acids. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2011]
uniprot summary :
VEGFB: Growth factor for endothelial cells. VEGF-B167 binds heparin and neuropilin-1 whereas the binding to neuropilin-1 of VEGF-B186 is regulated by proteolysis. Homodimer; disulfide-linked. Can also form heterodimer with VEGF. Expressed in all tissues except liver. Highest levels found in heart, skeletal muscle and pancreas. Belongs to the PDGF/VEGF growth factor family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. Protein type: Secreted, signal peptide; Secreted; Cell cycle regulation; Cytokine; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 11q13. Cellular Component: extracellular space; membrane; extracellular region. Molecular Function: heparin binding; protein binding; protein homodimerization activity; growth factor activity; protein heterodimerization activity; vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 1 binding; chemoattractant activity. Biological Process: response to drug; platelet activation; protein amino acid O-linked glycosylation; positive regulation of vascular endothelial growth factor receptor signaling pathway; positive regulation of vascular permeability; induction of positive chemotaxis; positive regulation of protein kinase B signaling cascade; positive regulation of peptidyl-tyrosine phosphorylation; platelet degranulation; positive chemotaxis; positive regulation of cell division; positive regulation of endothelial cell proliferation; negative regulation of neuron apoptosis; angiogenesis; vascular endothelial growth factor receptor signaling pathway; blood coagulation; cardiac muscle contraction; negative regulation of apoptosis
