Intra-assay Precision: <= 8%. Inter-assay Precision: <= 12%
products description :
Principle of the assay: This experiment use double-sandwich elisa technique and the ELISA Kit provided is typical. The pre-coated antibody is Porcine MMP-8 monoclonal antibody and the detecting antibody is polyclonal antibody with biotin labeled. Samples and biotin labeling antibody are added into ELISA plate wells and washed out with PBS or TBS. Then Avidin-peroxidase conjugates are added to ELISA wells in order; Use TMB substrate for coloring after reactant thoroughly washed out by PBS or TBS. TMB turns into blue in peroxidase catalytic and finally turns into yellow under the action of acid. The color depth and the testing factors in samples are positively correlated.

ncbi summary :
Proteins of the matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) family are involved in the breakdown of extracellular matrix in normal physiological processes, such as embryonic development, reproduction, and tissue remodeling, as well as in disease processes, such as arthritis and metastasis. Most MMP's are secreted as inactive proproteins which are activated when cleaved by extracellular proteinases. The encoded protein activates MMP2 by cleavage. This gene was once referred to as MT-MMP2, but was renamed as MT-MMP3 or MMP16. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2010]
uniprot summary :
MMP16: Endopeptidase that degrades various components of the extracellular matrix, such as collagen type III and fibronectin. Activates progelatinase A. Involved in the matrix remodeling of blood vessels. Isoform short cleaves fibronectin and also collagen type III, but at lower rate. It has no effect on type I, II, IV and V collagen. However, upon interaction with CSPG4, it may be involved in degradation and invasion of type I collagen by melanoma cells. Belongs to the peptidase M10A family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. Protein type: EC 3.4.24.-; Protease; Membrane protein, integral. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 8q21.3. Cellular Component: proteinaceous extracellular matrix; cell surface; Golgi lumen; integral to plasma membrane; plasma membrane. Molecular Function: zinc ion binding; metalloendopeptidase activity; enzyme activator activity; calcium ion binding. Biological Process: positive regulation of catalytic activity; extracellular matrix disassembly; collagen catabolic process; extracellular matrix organization and biogenesis; embryonic cranial skeleton morphogenesis; proteolysis; endochondral ossification
