products description :
Principle of the Assay: This experiment use double-sandwich elisa technique and the ELISA Kit provided is typical. The pre-coated antibody is human GAP-43 monoclonal antibody and the detecting antibody is polyclonal antibody with biotin labeled. Samples and biotin labeling antibody are added into ELISA plate wells and washed out with PBS or TBS. Then Avidin-peroxidase conjugates are added to ELISA wells in order; Use TMB substrate for coloring after reactant thoroughly washed out by PBS or TBS. TMB turns into blue in peroxidase catalytic and finally turns into yellow under the action of acid. The color depth and the testing factors in samples are positively correlated.

ncbi summary :
The protein encoded by this gene has been termed a 'growth' or 'plasticity' protein because it is expressed at high levels in neuronal growth cones during development and axonal regeneration. This protein is considered a crucial component of an effective regenerative response in the nervous system. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
uniprot summary :
GAP43: This protein is associated with nerve growth. It is a major component of the motile growth cones that form the tips of elongating axons. Plays a role in axonal and dendritic filopodia induction. Identified in a complex containing FGFR4, NCAM1, CDH2, PLCG1, FRS2, SRC, SHC1, GAP43 and CTTN. Binds calmodulin with a greater affinity in the absence of Ca(2+) than in its presence. Belongs to the neuromodulin family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. Protein type: Cell surface. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 3q13.31. Cellular Component: filopodium membrane; axon; cytoplasm; postsynaptic density; plasma membrane; cell junction. Molecular Function: calmodulin binding; protein binding. Biological Process: cell fate commitment; glial cell differentiation; tissue regeneration; regulation of growth; axon choice point recognition; protein kinase C activation; response to wounding; regulation of filopodium formation
