products description :
Principle of the Assay This experiment use double-sandwich elisa technique and the ELISA Kit provided is typical. The pre-coated antibody is human BPI-Ab monoclonal antibody and the detecting antibody is polyclonal antibody with biotin labeled. Samples and biotin labeling antibody are added into ELISA plate wells and washed out with PBS or TBS. Then Avidin-peroxidase conjugates are added to ELISA wells in order; Use TMB substrate for coloring after reactant thoroughly washed out by PBS or TBS. TMB turns into blue in peroxidase catalytic and finally turns into yellow under the action of acid. The color depth and the testing factors in samples are positively correlated.

ncbi summary :
This gene encodes a lipopolysaccharide binding protein. It is associated with human neutrophil granules and has bactericidal activity on gram-negative organisms. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
uniprot summary :
BPI: The cytotoxic action of BPI is limited to many species of Gram-negative bacteria; this specificity may be explained by a strong affinity of the very basic N-terminal half for the negatively charged lipopolysaccharides that are unique to the Gram-negative bacterial outer envelope. Has antibacterial activity against the Gram-nagative bacterium P.aeruginosa, this activity is inhibited by LPS from P.aeruginosa. Belongs to the BPI/LBP/Plunc superfamily. BPI/LBP family. Protein type: Cell surface; Secreted; Secreted, signal peptide. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 20q11.23. Cellular Component: integral to plasma membrane; cytoplasm. Molecular Function: lipopolysaccharide binding. Biological Process: negative regulation of interleukin-8 production; negative regulation of interleukin-6 production; immune response; negative regulation of tumor necrosis factor production; negative regulation of macrophage activation; defense response to Gram-negative bacterium
