other info2 :
Actual Molecular Mass: 2.,5kDa as determined by SDS-PAGE reducing conditions. Note: Actual band size may differ from predicted due to:. - splice variants: Alternative splicing may create different sized proteins from the same gene. -Relative charge: The composition of amino acids may affect the charge of the protein. - Post-translational modification: Phosphorylation, glycosylation, methylation, etc. -Post-translational cleavage: Many proteins are synthesized as pro-proteins, and then cleaved to give the active form. -Polymerization of the target protein: Dimerization, multimerization, etc.

ncbi summary :
Glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase is a pyridoxal phosphate-dependent enzyme which exists in cytoplasmic and inner-membrane mitochondrial forms, GOT1 and GOT2, respectively. GOT plays a role in amino acid metabolism and the urea and tricarboxylic acid cycles. The two enzymes are homodimeric and show close homology. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2013]
