products description :
Intended Uses: This ELISA kit applies to the invitro quantitative determination of MouseMMP-19concentrations in serum, plasma and other biological fluids. Principle of the Assay: This ELISA kit uses Sandwich-ELISA as the method. The micro ELISA plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to MMP-19. Standards or samples are added to the appropriate micro ELISA plate wells and combined with the specific antibody. Then a biotinylated detection antibody specific for MMP-19and Avidin-Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugate is added to each micro plate well successively and incubated. Free components are washed away. The substrate solution is added to each well. Only those wells that contain MMP-19, biotinylated detection antibody and Avidin-HRP conjugate will appear blue in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of a sulphuric acid solution and the color turns yellow. The optical density (OD) is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm +/- 2 nm. The OD value is proportional to the concentration of MMP-19.You can calculate the concentration of MMP-19in the samples by comparing the OD of the samples to the standard curve.

ncbi summary :
This gene encodes a member of a family of proteins that are involved in the breakdown of extracellular matrix in normal physiological processes, such as embryonic development, reproduction, and tissue remodeling, as well as in disease processes, such as arthritis and metastasis. The encoded protein is secreted as an inactive proprotein, which is activated upon cleavage by extracellular proteases. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants for this gene. uniprot summary :
MMP19: Endopeptidase that degrades various components of the extracellular matrix, such as aggrecan and cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (comp), during development, haemostasis and pathological conditions (arthritic disease). May also play a role in neovascularization or angiogenesis. Hydrolyzes collagen type IV, laminin, nidogen, nascin-C isoform, fibronectin, and type I gelatin. May play a role in pathological processes participating in rheumatoid arthritis (RA)-associated joint tissue destruction. Autoantigen anti-MMP19 are frequent in RA patients. Belongs to the peptidase M10A family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. Protein type: EC 3.4.24.-; Secreted, signal peptide; Secreted; Protease. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 12q14. Cellular Component: extracellular region; proteinaceous extracellular matrix. Molecular Function: calcium ion binding; metalloendopeptidase activity; zinc ion binding. Biological Process: angiogenesis; cell differentiation; collagen catabolic process; extracellular matrix disassembly; extracellular matrix organization and biogenesis; luteolysis; ovarian follicle development; ovulation from ovarian follicle; proteolysis; response to cAMP; response to hormone stimulus. Disease: Cavitary Optic Disc Anomalies
