products description :
Intended Uses: This kit can be applied to the in vitro quantitative determination of Human CLDN9 concentrations in serum, plasma and other biological fluids. Principle of the Assay: This kit uses Sandwich-CLIA as the method. The micro CLIA plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to Human CLDN9. Standards or samples are added to appropriate micro CLIA plate wells and combined with the specific antibody. Then a biotinylated detection antibody specific for Human CLDN9 and Avidin- Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugate are added to each micro plate well successively and incubated. After incubation, free components are washed away. Then the Substrate Reagent is added to each well, only those wells that contain Human CLDN9, biotinylated detection antibody and Avidin-HRP conjugate will appear fluorescence. The Relative light unit (RLU) value is measured spectrophotometrically by the Chemiluminescence immunoassay analyzer. The RLU value is positively associated with the concentration of Human CLDN9. The concentration of Human CLDN9 in samples can be calculated by comparing the RLU value of the samples to the standard curve.

ncbi summary :
This gene encodes a member of the claudin family. Claudins are integral membrane proteins and components of tight junction strands. Tight junction strands serve as a physical barrier to prevent solutes and water from passing freely through the paracellular space between epithelial or endothelial cell sheets, and also play critical roles in maintaining cell polarity and signal transductions. This protein is one of the entry cofactors for hepatitis C virus. Mouse studies revealed that this gene is required for the preservation of sensory cells in the hearing organ and the gene deficiency is associated with deafness. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2010]
