specificity :
This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of Human PEDF. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between Human PEDF and analogues was observed. Note: Limited by current skills and knowledge, it is impossible for us to complete the cross- reactivity detection between Human PEDF and all the analogues, therefore, cross reaction may still exist.
storage stability :
Store at 4 degree C.

Samples: Serum, Plasma, Biological Fluids. Assay Type: Sandwich. Detection Range: 0.156--10ng/mL. Sensitivity: 0.094ng/mL
products description :
Description: The kit is a sandwich enzyme immunoassay for in vitro quantitative measurement of PEDF in human serum, plasma and other biological fluids. Principle of the Assay: This ELISA kit uses Sandwich-ELISA as the method. The micro ELISA plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to Human PEDF. Standards or samples are added to the appropriate micro ELISA plate wells and bound by the specific antibody. Then a biotinylated detection antibody specific for Human PEDF and Avidin-Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugate is added to each micro plate well successively and incubated. Free components are washed away. The substrate solution is added to each well. Only those wells that contain Human PEDF, biotinylated detection antibody and Avidin-HRP conjugate will appear blue in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of a sulphuric acid solution and the color turns yellow. The optical density (OD) is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm +/- 2 nm. The OD value is proportional to the concentration of Human PEDF. You can calculate the concentration of Human PEDF in the samples by comparing the OD of the samples to the standard curve.

ncbi summary :
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the serpin family, although it does not display the serine protease inhibitory activity shown by many of the other serpin family members. The encoded protein is secreted and strongly inhibits angiogenesis. In addition, this protein is a neurotrophic factor involved in neuronal differentiation in retinoblastoma cells.[provided by RefSeq, Mar 2011]
uniprot summary :
PEDF: a secreted neurotrophic protein that induces extensive neuronal differentiation in retinoblastoma cells. Potent inhibitor of angiogenesis. As it does not undergo the S (stressed) to R (relaxed) conformational transition characteristic of active serpins, it exhibits no serine protease inhibitory activity. The N-terminal (AA 44-121) exhibits neurite outgrowth-inducing activity. The C-terminal exposed loop (AA 382-418) is essential for serpin activity. Extracellular phosphorylation enhances antiangiogenic activity. Protein type: Secreted, signal peptide; Inhibitor; Secreted. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 17p13.3. Cellular Component: axon hillock; extracellular matrix; extracellular space; perinuclear region of cytoplasm; melanosome; extracellular region; basement membrane. Molecular Function: serine-type endopeptidase inhibitor activity. Biological Process: cell proliferation; negative regulation of angiogenesis; positive regulation of neurogenesis; ovulation cycle; retina development in camera-type eye; short-term memory; multicellular organismal development; negative regulation of inflammatory response; response to arsenic; response to acidity; kidney development; aging. Disease: Osteogenesis Imperfecta, Type Vi
