uniprot entry name :
PAHO_HUMAN
specificity :
This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of Porcine PP. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between Porcine PP and analogues was observed. Note: Limited by current skills and knowledge, it is impossible for us to complete the cross- reactivity detection between Porcine PP and all the analogues, therefore, cross reaction may still exist.
storage stability :
Store at 4 degree C.
other info1 :
Samples: Serum, Plasma, Biological Fluids. Assay Type: Sandwich. Detection Range: 1.563--100ng/mL. Sensitivity: 0.938ng/mL
products description :
Description: The kit is a sandwich enzyme immunoassay for in vitro quantitative measurement of PP in Porcine serum, plasma and other biological fluids. Principle of the Assay: This ELISA kit uses Sandwich-ELISA as the method. The micro ELISA plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to Porcine PP. Standards or samples are added to the appropriate micro ELISA plate wells and bound by the specific antibody. Then a biotinylated detection antibody specific for Porcine PP and Avidin-Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugate is added to each micro plate well successively and incubated. Free components are washed away. The substrate solution is added to each well. Only those wells that contain Porcine PP, biotinylated detection antibody and Avidin-HRP conjugate will appear blue in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of a sulphuric acid solution and the color turns yellow. The optical density (OD) is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm +/- 2 nm. The OD value is proportional to the concentration of Porcine PP. You can calculate the concentration of Porcine PP in the samples by comparing the OD of the samples to the standard curve.

ncbi summary :
This gene belongs to the NPY family and it encodes a protein that is synthesized as a 95 aa polypeptide precursor in the pancreatic islets of Langerhans. It is cleaved into two peptide products; the active hormone of 36 aa and an icosapeptide of unknown function. The hormone acts as a regulator of pancreatic and gastrointestinal functions and may be important in the regulation of food intake. Plasma level of this hormone has been shown to be reduced in conditions associated with increased food intake and elevated in anorexia nervosa. In addition, infusion of this hormone in obese rodents has shown to decrease weight gain. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
