products description :
Intended Uses: This ELISA kit applies to the in vitro quantitative determination of Human FOXP1 concentrations in serum, plasma and other biological fluids. Principle of the Assay This ELISA kit uses Sandwich-ELISA as the method. The micro ELISA plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to FOXP1. Standards or samples are added to the appropriate micro ELISA plate wells and combined with the specific antibody. Then a biotinylated detection antibody specific for FOXP1 and Avidin-Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugate is added to each micro plate well successively and incubated. Free components are washed away. The substrate solution is added to each well. Only those wells that contain FOXP1, biotinylated detection antibody and Avidin-HRP conjugate will appear blue in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of a sulphuric acid solution and the color turns yellow. The optical density (OD) is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm +/- 2 nm. The OD value is proportional to the concentration of FOXP1. You can calculate the concentration of FOXP1 in the samples by comparing the OD of the samples to the standard curve.

ncbi summary :
This gene belongs to subfamily P of the forkhead box (FOX) transcription factor family. Forkhead box transcription factors play important roles in the regulation of tissue- and cell type-specific gene transcription during both development and adulthood. Forkhead box P1 protein contains both DNA-binding- and protein-protein binding-domains. This gene may act as a tumor suppressor as it is lost in several tumor types and maps to a chromosomal region (3p14.1) reported to contain a tumor suppressor gene(s). Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
uniprot summary :
FOXP1: Transcriptional repressor. It plays an important role in the specification and differentiation of lung epithelium. Can act with CTBP1 to synergistically repress transcription but CTPBP1 is not essential. Essential transcriptional regulator of B-cell development. Forms homodimers and heterodimers with FOXP2 and FOXP4. Dimerization is required for DNA-binding. Interacts with CTBP1. 5 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. Protein type: C2H2-type zinc finger protein; Cell cycle regulation; Transcription factor; DNA-binding. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 3p14.1. Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; nucleus. Molecular Function: protein binding; androgen receptor binding; sequence-specific DNA binding; metal ion binding. Biological Process: transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; positive regulation of smooth muscle cell proliferation; response to lipopolysaccharide; osteoclast differentiation; endothelial cell activation; regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; regulation of monocyte differentiation; macrophage activation; monocyte activation; regulation of inflammatory response; regulation of interleukin-1 beta secretion; regulation of tumor necrosis factor production; negative regulation of transcription, DNA-dependent; negative regulation of B cell apoptosis. Disease: Mental Retardation With Language Impairment And With Or Without Autistic Features
