other info1 :
Samples: Serum, plasma and other biological fluids. Assay Type: Sandwich. Detection Range: 0.156-10ng/mL. Sensitivity: The minimum detectable dose of Human EFNA1 is 0.094ng/mL (The sensitivity of this assay, or lowest detectable limit (LDL) was defined as the lowest protein concentration that could be differentiated from zero).
other info2 :
Intended Uses: This ELISA kit applies to the in vitro quantitative determination of Human EFNA1 concentrations in serum, plasma and other biological fluids.
products description :
Principle of the assay: This ELISA kit uses Sandwich-ELISA as the method. The micro ELISA plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to EFNA1. Standards or samples are added to the appropriate micro ELISA plate wells and combined with the specific antibody. Then a biotinylated detection antibody specific for EFNA1 and Avidin-Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugate is added to each micro plate well successively and incubated. Free components are washed away. The substrate solution is added to each well. Only those wells that contain EFNA1, biotinylated detection antibody and Avidin-HRP conjugate will appear blue in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of a sulphuric acid solution and the color turns yellow. The optical density (OD) is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm +/- 2 nm. The OD value is proportional to the concentration of EFNA1. You can calculate the concentration of EFNA1 in the samples by comparing the OD of the samples to the standard curve.

ncbi summary :
This gene encodes a member of the ephrin (EPH) family. The ephrins and EPH-related receptors comprise the largest subfamily of receptor protein-tyrosine kinases and have been implicated in mediating developmental events, especially in the nervous system and in erythropoiesis. Based on their structures and sequence relationships, ephrins are divided into the ephrin-A (EFNA) class, which are anchored to the membrane by a glycosylphosphatidylinositol linkage, and the ephrin-B (EFNB) class, which are transmembrane proteins. This gene encodes an EFNA class ephrin which binds to the EPHA2, EPHA4, EPHA5, EPHA6, and EPHA7 receptors. Two transcript variants that encode different isoforms were identified through sequence analysis. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
uniprot summary :
EFNA1: Cell surface GPI-bound ligand for Eph receptors, a family of receptor tyrosine kinases which are crucial for migration, repulsion and adhesion during neuronal, vascular and epithelial development. Binds promiscuously Eph receptors residing on adjacent cells, leading to contact-dependent bidirectional signaling into neighboring cells. Plays an important role in angiogenesis and tumor neovascularization. The recruitment of VAV2, VAV3 and PI3-kinase p85 subunit by phosphorylated EPHA2 is critical for EFNA1-induced RAC1 GTPase activation and vascular endothelial cell migration and assembly. Exerts anti-oncogenic effects in tumor cells through activation and down-regulation of EPHA2. Activates EPHA2 by inducing tyrosine phosphorylation which leads to its internalization and degradation. Acts as a negative regulator in the tumorigenesis of gliomas by down-regulating EPHA2 and FAK. Can evoke collapse of embryonic neuronal growth cone and regulates dendritic spine morphogenesis. Belongs to the ephrin family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. Protein type: Membrane protein, GPI anchor; Tumor suppressor; Ligand, receptor tyrosine kinase; Cell development/differentiation. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1q21-q22. Cellular Component: anchored to plasma membrane; integral to plasma membrane; extracellular region; plasma membrane. Molecular Function: protein binding; ephrin receptor binding; receptor binding. Biological Process: axon guidance; cell migration; activation of MAPK activity; notochord formation; negative regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; regulation of axonogenesis; regulation of blood vessel endothelial cell migration; regulation of angiogenesis; regulation of cell adhesion mediated by integrin; positive regulation of peptidyl-tyrosine phosphorylation; cell-cell signaling; ephrin receptor signaling pathway; angiogenesis; regulation of peptidyl-tyrosine phosphorylation
