specificity :
This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of Human IL-13. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between Human IL-13 and analogues was observed. Note: Limited by current skills and knowledge, it is impossible for us to complete the cross- reactivity detection between Human IL-13 and all the analogues, therefore, cross reaction may still exist.
storage stability :
Store at 4 degree C.
other info1 :
Samples: Serum, Plasma, Biological Fluids. Assay Type: Sandwich. Detection Range: 15.625--1000pg/mL. Sensitivity: 9.375pg/mL
products description :
Description: The kit is a sandwich enzyme immunoassay for in vitro quantitative measurement of IL-13 in human serum, plasma and other biological fluids. Principle of the Assay: This ELISA kit uses Sandwich-ELISA as the method. The micro ELISA plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to Human IL-13. Standards or samples are added to the appropriate micro ELISA plate wells and bound by the specific antibody. Then a biotinylated detection antibody specific for Human IL-13 and Avidin-Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugate is added to each micro plate well successively and incubated. Free components are washed away. The substrate solution is added to each well. Only those wells that contain Human IL-13, biotinylated detection antibody and Avidin-HRP conjugate will appear blue in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of a sulphuric acid solution and the color turns yellow. The optical density (OD) is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm +/- 2 nm. The OD value is proportional to the concentration of Human IL-13. You can calculate the concentration of Human IL-13 in the samples by comparing the OD of the samples to the standard curve.

ncbi summary :
This gene encodes an immunoregulatory cytokine produced primarily by activated Th2 cells. This cytokine is involved in several stages of B-cell maturation and differentiation. It up-regulates CD23 and MHC class II expression, and promotes IgE isotype switching of B cells. This cytokine down-regulates macrophage activity, thereby inhibits the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines. This cytokine is found to be critical to the pathogenesis of allergen-induced asthma but operates through mechanisms independent of IgE and eosinophils. This gene, IL3, IL5, IL4, and CSF2 form a cytokine gene cluster on chromosome 5q, with this gene particularly close to IL4. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
uniprot summary :
IL13: Cytokine. Inhibits inflammatory cytokine production. Synergizes with IL2 in regulating interferon-gamma synthesis. May be critical in regulating inflammatory and immune responses. Defects in IL13 may be a cause of susceptibility to allergic rhinitis (ALRH). Allergic rhinitis is a common disease of complex inheritance and is characterized by mucosal inflammation caused by allergen exposure. Belongs to the IL-4/IL-13 family. Protein type: Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; Secreted; Secreted, signal peptide. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 5q31. Cellular Component: extracellular space; cytoplasm; extracellular region; external side of plasma membrane. Molecular Function: protein binding; interleukin-13 receptor binding; cytokine activity. Biological Process: response to nicotine; positive regulation of smooth muscle cell proliferation; regulation of proton transport; microglial cell activation; response to lipopolysaccharide; signal transduction; positive regulation of connective tissue growth factor production; positive regulation of tyrosine phosphorylation of Stat6 protein; positive regulation of immunoglobulin production; response to ethanol; positive regulation of protein secretion; cell-cell signaling; positive regulation of B cell proliferation; immune response; positive regulation of release of sequestered calcium ion into cytosol; cell motility; inflammatory response; negative regulation of NAD(P)H oxidase activity; positive regulation of macrophage activation.
