products categories :
Family: NHR. Subfamily: NR4 Nerve growth factor-like
products description :
Nak1, a NR4 Nerve Growth Factor-Like receptor, has been shown to affect the hypothalamic-pituitary axis, neuronal differentiation, neuroendocrine regulation of adrenocortical function, and T-cell apoptosis. Nak1 also is known as nuclear receptor Tr3 and is similar to mouse Nur77 and rat NGFI-B. It is encoded by one of the immediate early genes (IEG) in response to nerve growth factor and other serum growth factors.

ncbi summary :
This gene encodes a member of the steroid-thyroid hormone-retinoid receptor superfamily. Expression is induced by phytohemagglutinin in human lymphocytes and by serum stimulation of arrested fibroblasts. The encoded protein acts as a nuclear transcription factor. Translocation of the protein from the nucleus to mitochondria induces apoptosis. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2011]
