concentration :
Total protein concentration 0.1 mg/ml after reconstitution
storage stability :
Prior to reconstitution store at 4 degree C. After reconstitution store at -20 degree C. Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended. This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use. Shelf Life: 3 months from date of reconstitution.
tested application :
ELISA (EIA), Functional Assays (FN), Western Blot (WB)
app notes :
ELISA: Minimum Dilution: 0.2; Maximum Dilution: 0.4ng/well;. Western Blotting: Minimum Dilution: 1.5; Maximum Dilution: 3.0ng/lane
other info1 :
Reconstitution: Reconstitute with 0.5ml distilled water. Care should be taken during reconstitution as the protein may appear as a film at the bottom of the vial. MyBioSource recommends that the vial is gently mixed after reconstitution. Preparation: Purified recombinant galectin-3 expressed in E Coli
other info2 :
Endotoxin Level: Phosphate buffered saline. Activity: Determined by its ability to chemoattract human blood monocytes. Chemotactic activity was observed at a concentration of 2.5 ug/ml with a peak response obtained at 250 ug/ml. Target Species: Human
products description :
Galectin-3 (Gal-3) is a member of the galectin family of beta-galactoside-binding proteins, which is involved in both intracellular and extracellular functions and exhibits anti-apoptotic properties. Gal-3 is implicated in many biological processes, including cell differentiation, growth, adhesion, angiogenesis and inflammation, and is expressed in a wide range of neoplasms. Gal-3 acts as a regulator of tumour metastasis, and several studies have shown a correlation between levels of Gal-3 and tumour progression in liver, thyroid, colon, gastric and breast carcinomas, making Gal-3 an emerging cancer marker.

ncbi summary :
This gene encodes a member of the galectin family of carbohydrate binding proteins. Members of this protein family have an affinity for beta-galactosides. The encoded protein is characterized by an N-terminal proline-rich tandem repeat domain and a single C-terminal carbohydrate recognition domain. This protein can self-associate through the N-terminal domain allowing it to bind to multivalent saccharide ligands. This protein localizes to the extracellular matrix, the cytoplasm and the nucleus. This protein plays a role in numerous cellular functions including apoptosis, innate immunity, cell adhesion and T-cell regulation. The protein exhibits antimicrobial activity against bacteria and fungi. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants.[provided by RefSeq, Oct 2014]
