Interleukin-1 (IL-1) is a pro-inflammatory cytokine secreted by many different cell types which acts upon a wide range of target cells, resulting in a diverse range of effects. The biological properties of IL-1 include the induction of B cell proliferation, stimulation of T cell proliferation in conjunction with IL-2 and the production of collagenase and prostaglandin by fibroblasts. IL-1 is also responsible for triggering the acute-phase response in the liver, and is involved in both cytokine network and vascular endothelium activation. MBS232221 induces corticosterone secretion in vivo, see Weining, K.C. et al. for details. MBS232221 is also the immunogen used to produce MyBioSource chicken IL-1beta antibody product code MBS220072.
