products description :
Goat anti Human Hsc70 antibody recognizes human Heat shock cognate 71 kDa protein, also known as Heat shock 70 kDa protein 8 or Lipopolysaccharide-associated protein 1. Hsc70 is a 646 amino acid ubiquitously expressed cytoplasmic heat-shock cognate protein and member of the heat shock protein 70 family, encoded for by the HSPA8 gene. Goat anti Human Hsc70 antibody recognizes epitopes in the region between amino acids 555 and 570 of Hsc70 isoform 1, missing in isoform 2. Heat shock proteins are a group of constitutively expressed or heat/stress-inducible proteins which act as molecular chaperones and play an essential role in protein folding/unfolding and transport of proteins across membranes. Hsc70 facilitates the correct folding of newly-synthesized polypeptides (Flynn et al. 1989) and also participates in the ATPase disassociation of clathrin-coated vesicles during endocytosis, in conjunction with the co-chaperone auxilin (Jiang et al. 1997).

ncbi summary :
This gene encodes a member of the heat shock protein 70 family, which contains both heat-inducible and constitutively expressed members. This protein belongs to the latter group, which are also referred to as heat-shock cognate proteins. It functions as a chaperone, and binds to nascent polypeptides to facilitate correct folding. It also functions as an ATPase in the disassembly of clathrin-coated vesicles during transport of membrane components through the cell. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2011]
