products description :
Sheep anti Bovine asialofetuin antibody recognizes bovine Alpha-2-HS-glycoprotein, also known as asialofetuin or fetuin-A. Asialofetuin is a 359 amino acid ~55kDa secreted glycoprotein containing two cystatin fetuin-A-type domains. Asialofetuin is produced in the liver and bone marrow and acts as a negative acute-phase protein attenuating the inflammatory response to acute injury (Wang et al. 2010). In a simple antigen down ELISA assay Sheep anti Bovine asialofetuin antibody reacts with: asialofetuin (ab at 1/8000) 100%fetuin (ab at 1/2000) 100%fetuin (ab at 1/8000) 50%

uniprot summary :
FETUA: Promotes endocytosis, possesses opsonic properties and influences the mineral phase of bone. Shows affinity for calcium and barium ions. Alpha-2-HS glycoprotein derives from this precursor, when the connecting peptide is cleaved off. The two chains A and B are held together by a single disulfide bond. Synthesized in liver and selectively concentrated in bone matrix. Secreted in plasma. It is also found in dentin in much higher quantities than other plasma proteins. Belongs to the fetuin family. Protein type: Secreted; Secreted, signal peptide. Cellular Component: plasma membrane; vesicle. Molecular Function: protein binding; cysteine protease inhibitor activity. Biological Process: negative regulation of bone mineralization; ossification; positive regulation of phagocytosis; regulation of inflammatory response; acute-phase response
