This item specifically recognises CD257 (otherwise known as BAFF/BLyS), a 285 amino acid type II transmembrane protein and member of the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) superfamily of ligands, which acts as a B and T cell stimulator and plays a role in the development of autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus. CD257 is expressed by monocytes, macrophages, T cells and dendritic cells and acts through binding to CD267 (TACI), CD269 (BCMA) and CD268 (BAFFR) receptors, the latter interaction playing a critical role in the activation, survival, differentiation and proliferation of B cells.

IgG concentration 0.5mg/ml

Store at 4 degree C or at -20 degree C if preferred. Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended. This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use. Shelf Life: 18 months from date of reconstitution.

The protein encoded by this gene is a cytokine that belongs to the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) ligand family. This cytokine is a ligand for receptors TNFRSF13B/TACI, TNFRSF17/BCMA, and TNFRSF13C/BAFFR. This cytokine is expressed in B cell lineage cells, and acts as a potent B cell activator. It has been also shown to play an important role in the proliferation and differentiation of B cells. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified.
