Rabbit anti Respiratory Syncitial Virus antibody recognizes Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), an enveloped virus belonging to the Paramyxoviridae, genus Pneumovirus, that causes minor respiratory infections in adults and bronchitis and bronchopneumonia in children. Its genome consists of single stranded, negative sense RNA that codes for 2 non-structural and 8 structural proteins.Rabbit anti Respiratory Syncitial Virus antibody recognizes the RSV phosphoprotein, fusion and nuclear protein and reacts with human respiratory syncytial virus subtypes A and B. Rabbit anti Respiratory Syncitial Virus antibody does not react with tissue culture isolates of influenza types A and B, parainfluenza types 1, 2, 3 & 4b, adenovirus, HSV types1 & 2, VZV, cytomegalovirus, mumps and measles virus, coxsackie B4 virus, poliovirus types 1, 2 & 3 or Echo virus 19.
