specificity :
The antibody is a rabbit polyclonal antibody raised against XYLT2. It has been selected for its ability to recognize XYLT2 in immunohistochemical staining and western blotting.
purity :
Antigen-specific Affinity Chromatography.
form :
Supplied as solution form in PBS, pH7.4, containing 0.02% NaN 3 , 50% glycerol.
storage stability :
Storage : Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles. Store at 4 degreeC for frequent use. Aliquot and store at -20 degree C for 12 months. Stability Test : The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37 degree C for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate is less than 5% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

ncbi summary :
The protein encoded by this gene is an isoform of xylosyltransferase, which belongs to a family of glycosyltransferases. This enzyme transfers xylose from UDP-xylose to specific serine residues of the core protein and initiates the biosynthesis of glycosaminoglycan chains in proteoglycans including chondroitin sulfate, heparan sulfate, heparin and dermatan sulfate. The enzyme activity, which is increased in scleroderma patients, is a diagnostic marker for the determination of sclerotic activity in systemic sclerosis. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2013]
uniprot summary :
XYLT2: Probably catalyzes the first step in biosynthesis of glycosaminoglycan. Transfers D-xylose from UDP-D-xylose to specific serine residues of the core protein. Initial enzyme in the biosynthesis of chondroitin sulfate and dermatan sulfate proteoglycans in fibroblasts and chondrocytes. Its enzyme activity has not been demonstrated. Belongs to the glycosyltransferase 14 family. XylT subfamily. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. Protein type: Glycan Metabolism - heparan sulfate biosynthesis; Membrane protein, integral; Glycan Metabolism - chondroitin sulfate biosynthesis; EC 2.4.2.26; Transferase. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 17q21.33. Cellular Component: endoplasmic reticulum membrane; Golgi membrane; integral to membrane. Molecular Function: acetylglucosaminyltransferase activity; protein xylosyltransferase activity. Biological Process: chondroitin sulfate biosynthetic process; chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan biosynthetic process; glycosaminoglycan biosynthetic process; heparan sulfate proteoglycan biosynthetic process; heparin biosynthetic process.
