products description :
Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 5A (eIF5A) is the only protein Known to contain unusual amino acid formed by the action of deoxyhypusine synthase and deoxyhypusine hydroxylase using spermidine as the substrate. This protein was previously reported to be involved in the first step of peptide bond formation in translation; however more recent work implicates it as a universally conserved translation elongation factor. Modulation of eIF5A has been linked to proliferation and cancer. Recombinant human eIF5A protein was expressed in E. coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.

uniprot summary :
EIF5A: mRNA-binding protein involved in translation elongation. Has an important function at the level of mRNA turnover, probably acting downstream of decapping. Involved in actin dynamics and cell cycle progression, mRNA decay and probably in a pathway involved in stress response and maintenance of cell wall integrity. With syntenin SDCBP, functions as a regulator of p53/TP53 and p53/TP53-dependent apoptosis. Regulates also TNF- alpha-mediated apoptosis. Mediates effects of polyamines on neuronal process extension and survival. May play an important role in brain development and function, and in skeletal muscle stem cell differentiation. Also described as a cellular cofactor of human T-cell leukemia virus type I (HTLV-1) Rex protein and of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) Rev protein, essential for mRNA export of retroviral transcripts. Belongs to the eIF-5A family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. Protein type: Translation; Translation initiation. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 17p13-p12. Cellular Component: endoplasmic reticulum membrane; membrane; cytoplasm; nuclear pore; cytosol; nucleus; annulate lamellae. Molecular Function: protein binding; RNA binding; ribosome binding; protein N-terminus binding; U6 snRNA binding; translation elongation factor activity. Biological Process: mRNA export from nucleus; translational frameshifting; cellular protein metabolic process; apoptosis; positive regulation of cell proliferation; hypusine biosynthetic process from peptidyl-lysine; positive regulation of translational elongation; nucleocytoplasmic transport; protein export from nucleus; post-translational protein modification; positive regulation of translational termination
