storage stability :
Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles. Store at 4ºC for frequent use. Aliquot and store at -20ºC for 12 months. Stability Test: The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37°C for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate is less than 5% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

Hypertrophy Model Pathway (198828)
ncbi summary :
This gene encodes a secreted ligand of the TGF-beta (transforming growth factor-beta) superfamily of proteins. Ligands of this family bind various TGF-beta receptors leading to recruitment and activation of SMAD family transcription factors that regulate gene expression. The encoded preproprotein is proteolytically processed to generate each subunit of the disulfide-linked homodimer. This protein negatively regulates skeletal muscle cell proliferation and differentiation. Mutations in this gene are associated with increased skeletal muscle mass in humans and other mammals. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2016]
uniprot summary :
MSTN: Acts specifically as a negative regulator of skeletal muscle growth. Defects in MSTN are the cause of muscle hypertrophy (MSLHP). MSLHP is a condition characterized by increased muscle bulk and strength. Affected individuals are exceptionally strong. Belongs to the TGF-beta family. Protein type: Secreted; Secreted, signal peptide. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 2q32.2. Cellular Component: cytoplasm; extracellular space. Molecular Function: cytokine activity; growth factor activity; heparin binding; identical protein binding; protein binding; protein homodimerization activity; receptor binding; transforming growth factor beta receptor binding. Biological Process: cell development; muscle maintenance; muscle organ development; negative regulation of insulin receptor signaling pathway; negative regulation of kinase activity; negative regulation of muscle hypertrophy; negative regulation of myoblast differentiation; negative regulation of protein kinase B signaling cascade; negative regulation of skeletal muscle tissue growth; ovulation cycle process; positive regulation of transcription, DNA-templated; regulation of apoptosis; regulation of MAPK cascade; response to electrical stimulus; response to estrogen; response to ethanol; response to gravity; response to heat; response to muscle activity; response to testosterone stimulus; skeletal muscle atrophy; skeletal muscle tissue regeneration; transforming growth factor beta receptor signaling pathway. Disease: Muscle Hypertrophy
