specificity :
This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of prolactin. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between prolactin and analogues was observed.
storage stability :
The stability of kit is determined by the loss rate of activity. The loss rate of this kit is less than 5% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition. To minimize extra influence on the performance, operation procedures and lab conditions, especially room temperature, air humidity, incubator temperature should be strictly controlled. It is also strongly suggested that the whole assay is performed by the same operator from the beginning to the end.
other info1 :
Samples: Bovine serum, plasma and other biological fluids. Detection Range: 31.2-2, 000pg/mL. Sensitivity: The minimum detectable dose of prolactin is typically less than 13.5pg/mL. The sensitivity of this assay, or Lower Limit of Detection (LLD) was defined as the lowest protein concentration that could be differentiated from zero. It was determined by adding two standard deviations to the mean optical density value of twenty zero standard replicates and calculating the corresponding concentration.
other info2 :
Intra-assay Precision: Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay): 3 samples with low, middle and high level prolactin were tested 20 times on one plate, respectively. Intra-Assay: CV<10%. Inter-assay Precision: Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays): 3 samples with low, middle and high level prolactin were tested on 3 different plates, 8 replicates in each plate. CV(%) = SD/meanX100. Inter-Assay: CV<12%. Intended Uses: The kit is a sandwich enzyme immunoassay for in vitro quantitative measurement of prolactin in bovine serum, plasma and other biological fluids.
products description :
Principle of the assay: The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to prolactin. Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with a biotin-conjugated antibody specific to prolactin. Next, Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. After TMB substrate solution is added, only those wells that contain prolactin, biotin-conjugated antibody and enzyme-conjugated Avidin will exhibit a change in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450nm +/- 10nm. The concentration of prolactin in the samples is then determined by comparing the O.D. of the samples to the standard curve.

ncbi summary :
This gene encodes the anterior pituitary hormone prolactin. This secreted hormone is a growth regulator for many tissues, including cells of the immune system. It may also play a role in cell survival by suppressing apoptosis, and it is essential for lactation. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants that encode the same protein. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2011]
uniprot summary :
prolactin: Prolactin acts primarily on the mammary gland by promoting lactation. Belongs to the somatotropin/prolactin family. Protein type: Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; Secreted, signal peptide; Secreted; Cytokine. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 6p22.3. Cellular Component: extracellular region. Molecular Function: protein binding; prolactin receptor binding; hormone activity. Biological Process: lactation; cell proliferation; cell surface receptor linked signal transduction; positive regulation of JAK-STAT cascade; regulation of multicellular organism growth; female pregnancy
