form :
Supplied as lyophilized form in 20mM Tris, 500mM NaCl, pH8.0, containing 1mM EDTA, 1mM DTT, 0.01% sarcosyl, 5% trehalose, and preservative.
storage stability :
Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles. Store at 2-8 degree C for one month. Aliquot and store at -80 degree C for 12 months. Stability Test: The thermal stability is described by the loss rate of the targetprotein. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37 degree C for 48h, and no obvious degradation andprecipitation were observed. (Referring from China Biological Products Standard, which was calculated by the Arrhenius equation.) The loss of this protein is lessthan 5% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.
tested application :
SDS-PAGE, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA), Immunoprecipitation (IP)

ncbi summary :
The protein encoded by this gene localizes to the mitochondrion, where it degrades calcitriol to calcitetrol. This gene is upregulated by binding of calcitriol to the upstream regulatory region and to a downstream enhancer region, thereby allowing calcitriol to autoregulate its concentration in the cell. The encoded protein may also play a role in calcium homeostasis. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2015]
uniprot summary :
CYP24A1: Has a role in maintaining calcium homeostasis. Catalyzes the NADPH-dependent 24-hydroxylation of calcidiol (25- hydroxyvitamin D(3)) and calcitriol (1-alpha,25-dihydroxyvitamin D(3)). The enzyme can perform up to 6 rounds of hydroxylation of calcitriol leading to calcitroic acid. It also shows 23- hydroxylating activity leading to 1-alpha,25-dihydroxyvitamin D(3)-26,23-lactone as end product. Defects in CYP24A1 are the cause of hypercalcemia infantile (HCAI). HCAI is a disorder characterized by abnormally high level of calcium in the blood, failure to thrive, vomiting, dehydration, and nephrocalcinosis. Belongs to the cytochrome P450 family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. Protein type: Oxidoreductase; EC 1.14.13.126; Mitochondrial. Cellular Component: mitochondrion. Molecular Function: oxidoreductase activity, acting on paired donors, with incorporation or reduction of molecular oxygen; iron ion binding; metal ion binding; heme binding; 25-hydroxycholecalciferol-24-hydroxylase activity; oxidoreductase activity; 1-alpha,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 (1,25-(OH)2D3) 24-hydroxylase activity; monooxygenase activity. Biological Process: response to vitamin D; vitamin D metabolic process
