products gene name :
[CRYbB2]
other gene names :
[Crybb2; Crybb2; Cryb-2]
purity :
Antigen-specific affinity chromatography followed by Protein A affinity chromatography
form :
Supplied as solution form in 0.01M PBS, pH7.4, containing 0.05% Proclin-300, 50% glycerol.
concentration :
0.51mg/ml
storage stability :
Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles. Store at 4°C for frequent use. Aliquot and store at -20°C for 12 months. Stability Test: The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37 degree C for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate is less than 5% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.
tested application :
Western blotting (WB); Immunocytochemistry (ICC); Immunohistochemistry (IHC); Immunoprecipitation (IP)
app notes :
Western blotting: 0.5-2 ug/mL;1:250-1000. Immunohistochemistry: 5-20 ug/mL;1:25-100. Immunocytochemistry: 5-20 ug/mL;1:25-100. Optimal working dilutions must be determined by end user.

ncbi summary :
This gene is a member of the beta-crystallin family. Beta crystallins, along with alpha and gamma crystallins, are the major proteins found in the eye lens. These proteins maintain the refractive index of the lens whilst also maintaining its transparency. Since lens central fiber cells lose their nuclei during development, crystallins are made and then retained throughout life, making them extremely stable proteins. Beta and gamma crystallins are considered be a superfamily and have a similar domain architecture, including four Greek Key motifs. Beta-crystallins form aggregates of different sizes and are able to self-associate to form dimers or to form heterodimers with other beta-crystallins. The protein encoded by this gene may have Ca2+-binding activity and could be associated with potential functions in the hippocampus and in sperm. Targeted knockout of this gene in mouse induces age-related cataract. A chain-terminating mutation in a similar gene in human was found to cause type 2 cerulean cataracts.
