app notes :
The antibody has been tested by ELISA and Western blot analysis to assure specificity and reactivity. Since application varies, however, each investigation should be titrated by the reagent to obtain optimal results. Recommended dilution range for Western blot analysis is 1:1,000~ 2,000. Recommended starting dilution is 1:1,000.
other info1 :
Antigen Species: Human. Clone: Anti-human Visfatin mAb, clone 4D5, is derived from hybridization of mouse FO myeloma cells with spleen cells from BALB/c mice immunized with a recombinant human Visfatin protein. Immunogen: Recombinant human Visfatin (1-491aa) purified from E Coli
products categories :
Hormones & Cytokines
products description :
Visfatin is pre-B cell colony-enhancing factor 1(PBEF), which is predominantly secreted from visceral adipose tissue both in humans and mice. This protein has also been reported to be a cytokine (PBEF) that promotes B cell maturation and inhibits neutrophil apoptosis, or a visceral-fat derived hormone that acts by binding and activating the insulin receptor.

ncbi summary :
This gene encodes a protein that catalyzes the condensation of nicotinamide with 5-phosphoribosyl-1-pyrophosphate to yield nicotinamide mononucleotide, one step in the biosynthesis of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide. The protein belongs to the nicotinic acid phosphoribosyltransferase (NAPRTase) family and is thought to be involved in many important biological processes, including metabolism, stress response and aging. This gene has a pseudogene on chromosome 10. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2011]
uniprot summary :
PBEF: an ubiquitous protein originally described as a cytokine which acts on early B-lineage precursor cells. Other reports indicate that PBEF is not a cytokine-like secreted protein but an intracellular protein associated with the cell cycle. Contains a catalytically active nicotinate phosphoribosyltransferase domain, an enzyme involved in nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) biosynthesis. Protein type: EC 2.4.2.12; Cofactor and Vitamin Metabolism - nicotinate and nicotinamide; Cell cycle regulation; Transferase; Cytokine. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 7q22.3. Cellular Component: extracellular space; nucleus; cytosol. Molecular Function: protein binding; protein homodimerization activity; nicotinate-nucleotide diphosphorylase (carboxylating) activity; cytokine activity; drug binding; nicotinamide phosphoribosyltransferase activity. Biological Process: circadian rhythm; NAD biosynthetic process; vitamin metabolic process; cell-cell signaling; NAD metabolic process; nicotinamide metabolic process; positive regulation of smooth muscle cell proliferation; positive regulation of cell proliferation; insulin receptor signaling pathway; positive regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; female pregnancy; circadian regulation of gene expression; signal transduction; response to organic cyclic substance; water-soluble vitamin metabolic process; positive regulation of nitric-oxide synthase biosynthetic process
