specificity :
PUMA (CT) [This rabbit antibody recognizes an epitope of aa 180-193 at the C-terminus of human and mouse PUMA (p53 Upregulated Modulator of Apoptosis).]. This antibody recognizes an epitope at the C-terminus of human and mouse PUMA (p53 Upregulated Modulator of Apoptosis). PUMA is a pro-apoptotic Bcl-2 family member that encodes two BH3 domain-containing proteins, PUMA- alpha and PUMA- beta . PUMA proteins bind Bcl-2, localize to mitochondria, and induce cytochrome c release and apoptosis in response to p53.
form :
100 ug IgG in PBS, pH 7.4, purified by immunoaffinity chromatography.
storage stability :
This antibody is stable for at least one (1) year at -20 degree C. Avoid multiple freeze-thaw cycles.
tested application :
Immunoblot
app notes :
Immunoblotting: use at 1-2 ug/ml. In immunoblots, a band of 23 kD is detected. A lower molecular weight band at 16 kD is detected in MOLT4 and U937 cell lysates and probably represents the PUMA- beta protein. Positive control: Raji cell lysate.
other info1 :
Antigen: Peptide corresponding to aa 180-193 of human PUMA- alpha . This sequence is identical in human PUMA- alpha and PUMA- beta .
other info2 :
Stabilizer: None. Preservatives: 0.02% sodium azide. Dilutions Instructions: Dilute in PBS or medium which is identical to that used in the assay system.

uniprot summary :
PUMA: Essential mediator of p53/TP53-dependent and p53/TP53- independent apoptosis. Interacts with MCL1 and BCL2A1. Interacts with BCL2 and BCL2L1/BCL-XL. By DNA damage, glucocorticoid treatment, growth factor deprivation and p53/TP53. Ubiquitously expressed. Belongs to the Bcl-2 family. 4 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. Protein type: Mitochondrial. Cellular Component: mitochondrion; intracellular. Molecular Function: protein binding. Biological Process: caspase activation; release of cytochrome c from mitochondria; glial cell differentiation; positive regulation of protein homooligomerization; positive regulation of apoptosis; release of sequestered calcium ion into cytosol; positive regulation of neuron apoptosis; reduction of endoplasmic reticulum calcium ion concentration; determination of adult life span; brain development; response to DNA damage stimulus; DNA damage response, signal transduction by p53 class mediator resulting in induction of apoptosis; negative regulation of growth
