Anti-Ikk beta [Rabbit antibody to peptide corresponding to aa 662-680 of human IKKb.]. This antibody recognizes human IKK beta (87 kD). No cross-reactivity with IKK alpha or IKK gamma .

Immunoblot

Immunoblotting: use at 1:500-1:1,000 dilution. Positive control: Whole cell lysate from Jurkat cells.

Antigen: Peptide corresponding to aa 662-680 of human IKK beta which differs from the corresponding murine sequence by one amino acid.

Stabilizer: None. Preservatives: 0.02% sodium azide. Dilutions Instructions: Dilute in PBS or medium which is identical to that used in the assay system.

Nuclear factor kappa B (NF- kappa B) is a ubiquitous transcription factor and key mediator of gene expression during immune and inflammatory responses. NF- kappa B activates numerous genes in response to extracellular stimuli, such as IL-1, TNF alpha , and LPS. NF- kappa B is associated with I kappa B in cytoplasm, which inhibits NF- kappa B activity. I kappa B kinase (IKK), which phosphorylates I kappa B and mediates I kappa B degradation and NF- kappa B activation, was recently identified. IKK is a serine protein kinase, and the IKK complex contains alpha and beta subunits (IKK alpha and IKK beta ). IKK alpha and IKK beta interact with each other, and both are essential for NF-B activation. IKK beta phosphorylates both I kappa B- alpha and I kappa B- beta and is expressed in a variety of human tissues.
