Apoptosis Antibodies
products description :
Apoptosis is mediated by death domaincontaining adapter molecules and the caspase family of proteases. Certain serine/threonine protein kinases, such as RIP and DAP kinase, are mediators of apoptosis. DAP kinase (DAPK) is a proapoptotic, calcium-regulated serine/threonine kinase containing a death domain. Expression of DAPK induces cell death and suppresses oncogenic transformation. DAPK mediates IFN gamma -induced apoptosis. A DAPK-related protein was recently described and designated DAPK2, or DRP-1. Expression of DAPK2 induces apoptosis. The messenger RNA for DAPK2 is expressed in multiple human tissues.

ncbi summary :
This gene encodes a protein that belongs to the serine/threonine protein kinase family. This protein contains a N-terminal protein kinase domain followed by a conserved calmodulin-binding domain with significant similarity to that of death-associated protein kinase 1 (DAPK1), a positive regulator of programmed cell death. Overexpression of this gene was shown to induce cell apoptosis. It uses multiple polyadenylation sites. [provided by RefSeq]
uniprot summary :
DAPK2: an ubiquitously expressed protein kinase of the DAPK family. Activated by Ca(2+)/calmodulin. Contains a N-terminal protein kinase domain followed by a conserved calmodulin-binding domain. Overexpression induces apoptosis. Expressed at high levels in heart, lung and skeletal muscle.
