products description :
Y. pestis uses host cell nutrients to produce several virulence factors, thus enabling it to damage host cells and avoid phagocytosis and other host defenses. Capsular F1 antigen is one of these virulence factors and a major surface component of Y. pestis. It is present on the outer membrane of Y. pestis as an oligomeric protein comprised of multiple similar hydrophobic protein subunits. Capsular F1 antigen is initially produced as a 17.6 kD protein. During transfer of this protein to the surface, the signal peptide is removed and the resulting molecular weight of the protein is 15.6 kD.
