Immunoassay

This antibody may be used in immunoassays to detect and quantitate human lactoferrin. Not all applications have been investigated.

Antigen: Purified lactoferrin from human milk. Activity and Specificity: This antibody reacts in Western blots of whole serum proteins with a lactoferrin band of 77kD. No cross-reactivity with other human serum proteins.

Stabilizer: None. Preservatives: 0.1% sodium azide. Dilutions Instructions: Dilute in PBS or medium that is identical to that used in the assay system.

The protein is a major iron-binding protein in milk and body secretions with an antimicrobial activity, making it an important component of the non-specific immune system.
