products description :
Principle of the assay: human CXCL13 ELISA Kit is based on standard sandwich enzyme-linked immune-sorbent assay technology. A monoclonal antibody from mouse specific for CXCL13 has been precoated onto 96-well plates. Standards (E.coli,V23-R94) and test samples are added to the wells, a biotinylated detection polyclonal antibody from goat specific for CXCL13 is added subsequently and then followed by washing with PBS or TBS buffer. Avidin-Biotin-Peroxidase Complex is added and unbound conjugates are washed away with PBS or TBS buffer. HRP substrate TMB are used to visualize HRP enzymatic reaction. TMB is catalyzed by HRP to produce a blue color product that changed into yellow after adding acidic stop solution. The density of yellow is proportional to the human CXCL13 amount of sample captured in plate. Background: C-X-C motif chemokine 13 (CXCL13), also known as B lymphocyte chemoattractant (BLC), is a protein that in humans is encoded by theCXCL13 gene. CXCL13 is a small cytokine belonging to the CXC chemokine family, and it was located on sequence maps to 4q21, near the genes encoding most CXC chemokines. In T-lymphocytes, CXCL13 expression is thought to reflect a germinal center origin of the T-cell. Hence, expression of CXCL13 in T-cell lymphomas, such as Angioimmunoblastic T-cell Lymphoma, is thought to reflect a germinal center origin of the neoplastic T-cells

ncbi summary :
B lymphocyte chemoattractant, independently cloned and named Angie, is an antimicrobial peptide and CXC chemokine strongly expressed in the follicles of the spleen, lymph nodes, and Peyer's patches. It preferentially promotes the migration of B lymphocytes (compared to T cells and macrophages), apparently by stimulating calcium influx into, and chemotaxis of, cells expressing Burkitt's lymphoma receptor 1 (BLR-1). It may therefore function in the homing of B lymphocytes to follicles. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2014]
uniprot summary :
CXCL13: Chemotactic for B-lymphocytes but not for T-lymphocytes, monocytes and neutrophils. Does not induce calcium release in B- lymphocytes. Binds to BLR1/CXCR5. Belongs to the intercrine alpha (chemokine CxC) family. Protein type: Secreted, signal peptide; Secreted; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 4q21. Cellular Component: extracellular space; extracellular region. Molecular Function: heparin binding; CXCR3 chemokine receptor binding; fibroblast growth factor binding; chemokine activity; protein heterodimerization activity; CXCR5 chemokine receptor binding; CCR10 chemokine receptor binding; receptor agonist activity. Biological Process: chronic inflammatory response; lymphocyte chemotaxis across high endothelial venule; response to lipopolysaccharide; lymph node development; positive regulation of integrin activation; regulation of angiogenesis; positive regulation of cell-cell adhesion mediated by integrin; regulation of cell proliferation; G-protein coupled receptor protein signaling pathway; elevation of cytosolic calcium ion concentration; cell surface receptor linked signal transduction; cell-cell signaling; regulation of humoral immune response; defense response to bacterium; germinal center formation; immune response; inflammatory response
