products description :
Description: Rabbit IgG polyclonal antibody for Interleukin-7(IL7) detection. Tested with WB, IHC-P in Mouse. Background: IL-7, Interleukin 7, is a protein that in humans is encoded by the IL-7 gene. IL-7 a hematopoietic growth factor secreted by stromal cells in the red marrow and thymus. It is also produced by keratinocytes, dendritic cells, hepatocytes, neurons, and epithelial cells but is not produced by lymphocytes. By the combination of approaches, IL-7 is located on 8q12-q13. IL-7 is critical for early T-cell development and homeostasis of naive and memory CD8-positive T cells. It signals through the IL-7 receptor complex, which consists of the IL7R-alpha chain and the common IL2R-gamma chain is critical for early T-cell development and homeostasis of naive and memory CD8 -positive T cells. ncbi summary :
The protein encoded by this gene is a hematopoietic growth factor important for B and T cell development. Alternative splicing results in several transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2015]
uniprot summary :
IL7: Hematopoietic growth factor capable of stimulating the proliferation of lymphoid progenitors. It is important for proliferation during certain stages of B-cell maturation. Belongs to the IL-7/IL-9 family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. Protein type: Cell development/differentiation; Cytokine; Apoptosis; Secreted, signal peptide; Secreted; Cell cycle regulation. Cellular Component: extracellular space; extracellular region. Molecular Function: interleukin-7 receptor binding; growth factor activity; hematopoietin/interferon-class (D200-domain) cytokine receptor binding; cytokine activity. Biological Process: T cell lineage commitment; organ morphogenesis; cell-cell signaling; positive regulation of T cell differentiation; homeostasis of number of cells within a tissue; regulation of gene expression; negative regulation of catalytic activity; positive regulation of B cell proliferation; immune response; positive regulation of organ growth; humoral immune response; bone resorption
