Protein: 1.36 mg/mL (Radial Immunodiffusion Assay). Note: Mouse alpha-1-Acid Glycoprotein is one of the most acidic proteins found in serum. It has a molecular weight of approximately 40kDa with a high (~45%) content of carbohydrate. It is a positive acute phase reactant, the levels of which increase significantly in mice in response to inflammation tissue injury or disease.

products description :
MyBioSource produces Alpha-1 Acid Glycoprotein for clinical research and bulk clinical manufacturing. Technical support, bulk quantities and aliquoting available. Alpha-1 Acid Glycoprotein (a1AG; AGP) is an Acute Phase protein. Reduced serum Alpha-1 Acid Glycoprotein levels are mainly associated with impaired liver function but can also occur in vitamin A deficiency and conditions in which protein is being lost from the blood. AGP increased level (in parallel to increases in haptoglobin) is suggestive of inflammation. a1AG levels rise before those of haptoglobin therefore this test can be useful in determining the chronology of inflammatory processes.

uniprot summary :
ORM1: Functions as transport protein in the blood stream. Binds various ligands in the interior of its beta-barrel domain. Also binds synthetic drugs and influences their distribution and availability in the body. Appears to function in modulating the activity of the immune system during the acute-phase reaction. Belongs to the calycin superfamily. Lipocalin family. Protein type: Secreted, signal peptide; Secreted. Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 9q32. Cellular Component: extracellular space; extracellular region. Molecular Function: protein binding. Biological Process: regulation of immune system process; transport; acute-phase response; inflammatory response
