Polyclonal anti-human Haptoglobin procedure: Purification of Goat anti-human haptoglobin: Goats were immunized with highly purified human haptoglobin. After several injections serum was collected and solid phase absorbed to ensure anti-human haptoglobin specificity. The antiserum was then affinity purified off an antigen containing immunoabsorbant. The anti-human haptoglobin is useful for ELISA and blotting applications. The affinity purified anti human haptoglobin forms a single preciptin band with human serum haptoglobin and purified human haptoglobin by immunoelectrophoresis and double diffusion. Western Blots 1:1,000-1:5000 ELISA coating 1:200-1:500. Polyclonal goat anti-Human Haptoglobin BULK QUANTITIES 1,000 mg single lot sizes available.

Unlike haptoglobin, plasma concentration of this protein is unaffected in patients with sickle cell anemia and extensive intravascular hemolysis, suggesting a difference in binding between haptoglobin-hemoglobin and haptoglobin-related protein-hemoglobin complexes to CD163, the hemoglobin scavenger receptor. This protein may also be a clinically important predictor of recurrence of breast cancer. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2011]
