products description :
Intended Uses: This sandwich kit is for the accurate quantitative detection of human Selenoprotein-P (also known as SE-P) in serum, plasma, cell culture supernates, cell lysates, tissue homogenates. Principle of the Assay: This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with human SE-P antibody. SE-P present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated human SE-P Antibody is added and binds to SE-P in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated SE-Pantibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of human SE-P. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

ncbi summary :
This gene encodes a secreted glycoprotein that belongs to the semaphorin class 3 family of neuronal guidance cues. The encoded protein contains an N-terminal sema domain, integrin and immunoglobulin-like domains, and a C-terminal basic domain. Homodimerization and proteolytic cleavage of the C-terminal propeptide are necessary for the function of the encoded protein. It binds a neuropilin co-receptor before forming a heterotrimeric complex with an associated plexin. An increase in the expression of this gene correlates with an increase in cancer cell invasion and adhesion. Naturally occurring mutations in this gene are associated with Hirschsprung disease. uniprot summary :
Binds to plexin family members and plays an important role in the regulation of developmental processes. Required for normal cardiovascular development during embryogenesis. Functions as attractant for growing axons, and thereby plays an important role in axon growth and axon guidance ().
