products description :
Intended Uses: This sandwich kit is for the accurate quantitative detection of human Calnexin (also known as CNX) in serum, plasma, cell culture supernates, cell lysates, tissue homogenates. Principles of the Assay: This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with human CNX antibody. CNX present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated human CNX Antibody is added and binds to CNX in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated CNXantibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of human CNX. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

ncbi summary :
This gene encodes a member of the calnexin family of molecular chaperones. The encoded protein is a calcium-binding, endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-associated protein that interacts transiently with newly synthesized N-linked glycoproteins, facilitating protein folding and assembly. It may also play a central role in the quality control of protein folding by retaining incorrectly folded protein subunits within the ER for degradation. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2018]
uniprot summary :
Calcium-binding protein that interacts with newly synthesized glycoproteins in the endoplasmic reticulum. It may act in assisting protein assembly and/or in the retention within the ER of unassembled protein subunits. It seems to play a major role in the quality control apparatus of the ER by the retention of incorrectly folded proteins. Associated with partial T-cell antigen receptor complexes that escape the ER of immature thymocytes, it may function as a signaling complex regulating thymocyte maturation. Additionally it may play a role in receptor-mediated endocytosis at the synapse.
