products description :
Intended Uses: This sandwich kit is for the accurate quantitative detection of Mouse Ubiquitin Carboxyl Terminal Hydrolase L1 (also known as UCHL1) in serum, plasma, cell culture supernates, cell lysates, tissue homogenates. Principles of the Assay: This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with Mouse UCHL1 antibody. UCHL1 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Mouse UCHL1 Antibody is added and binds to UCHL1 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated UCHL1 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Mouse UCHL1. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm

ncbi summary :
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the peptidase C12 family. This enzyme is a thiol protease that hydrolyzes a peptide bond at the C-terminal glycine of ubiquitin. This gene is specifically expressed in the neurons and in cells of the diffuse neuroendocrine system. Mutations in this gene may be associated with Parkinson disease.[provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009]
uniprot summary :
Ubiquitin-protein hydrolase involved both in the processing of ubiquitin precursors and of ubiquitinated proteins. This enzyme is a thiol protease that recognizes and hydrolyzes a peptide bond at the C-terminal glycine of ubiquitin. Also binds to free monoubiquitin and may prevent its degradation in lysosomes. The homodimer may have ATP-independent ubiquitin ligase activity.
